FAQ

PATCHES

What are your embroidered patches made of?
Our patches are made of 100% rayon.

How big are your patches?
Our patches come in two general sizes: Standard and Mini/Eyelet.

Standard patches are big! We wanted to design oriental-style patches, large enough for details to come through on an embroidered patch medium, that could also be used for mending tears or rips in fabric. As a rough guide, our Standard patches are generally backed on an A5 card, making them about palm-sized. These would make great statements on jackets, jeans and bags.

Our Minis and Eyelets are generally presented as multiple smaller patches on an A6 backing card. These would be a more typical embroidered patch size. This size is perfect for smaller areas such as hats, shoes, on children's clothing, or for a more subtle look.

Specific dimensions of each patch can be found on its individual listing. Dimensions are the longest vertical measurement of the patch, and the longest horizontal measurement of the patch, for height (H) and width (W) respectively.

How do I care for my patches?
Please see our care page for care instructions.

Why aren't your patches iron-on? How do I attach them?
We have found plain backing to be the most versatile for patches, compared to heat-seal adhesives, as not every material can be ironed on, e.g., leather, some synthetic materials. Even with materials that can be ironed on, the adhesive can weaken with age and multiple washes, and patches can be lost this way! Thus, we suggest sewing on all patches, even if they are iron-on ones, to ensure that they keep beautifully over time.

A plain backing also means that the patch is much more physically flexible, and able to be used on a wider variety of mediums, as well as for actual mending. Plain backing does still retain the option of gluing, if you decide not to sew, or for attaching to non-fabric surfaces.

The idea of sewing might be intimidating if you haven't done any, but it is quite simple, and is the best way of caring for patches - ensuring they stay well and truly on!

SHIPPING

Where do you ship?
We ship worldwide - to nearly every country! Please contact us at hello@kingyokintsugi.com if you are unable to see your selected country when checking out.

What is the delivery timeframe?
We are currently using Australia Post for sending out orders. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has led to a major surge in postal deliveries, as well as causing disruptions to delivery operations. Please note also that at this time, items may be held longer than usual by Australian and overseas customs authorities, due to increased government regulation worldwide due to the pandemic.

Domestic regular post is currently taking up to 4 business days within the same state (Victoria) and 3-6 business days for interstate.
Domestic express post is taking up to 2 business days within Victoria, and 2-4 business days for interstate.

International economy is currently taking 25+ business days for delivery.
International express is largely varied between 2-12 business days, depending on delivery location (e.g. 2-5 business days for Singapore, 5-8 business days for USA, 7-12 business days for most of Europe).

Australia Post is updating information on their delivery times and service here.

Will I get taxed on my order?
If you live within Australia, you will not be taxed on your order, as we ship orders from Melbourne.

Every other country's policy on import duties, customs and taxes is different. Please be informed of your country's policies on importing goods from overseas, as usually, orders over a certain threshold will be subject to fees upon delivery.

For our European customers, please note that the policy has recently changed as of 1 July 2021. Previously, imported goods with a value of 22 euros or less were exempt from taxation. However, across the European Union as of 1 July 2021, all goods to the EU from outside the bloc will be subject to VAT, whatever their value. It is possible that postal companies will charge their customers additional fees to collect VAT and carry out necessary importing procedures. If the value of the items exceeds 150 euros, customs duty will also be payable.

Unfortunately, we have no control over these fees, as this is determined by each country's customs office.
