Art is, by some definition, impractical. Tattoos, for example, have no functional purpose, but hold value in being a created work that is aesthetically appealing to both artist and wearer. Tattoos tend to be a more private and personal form of art; these large, beautiful irezumi-style rugs will hopefully be a more open way of sharing an appreciation of the art form.
