Description
Cats have been inspiring Japanese artists and writers for generations. Perhaps one of the most famous, the maneki neko (招き猫), or fortune cat, is ubiquitous to many Asian businesses and homes, believed to bring good luck and prosperity.
These patches are available separately, or can be purchased in a pair that depicts the well-loved cat in two universally feline postures.
Artist's note
I looked to legendary cat-master, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, for design cues for these cats. I mostly used his silhouettes as templates for mine, and filled in the details myself. I paid special attention to the thread direction on these as I am always after a more natural look.
