Description
Fu Dogs, or guardian lions, are believed to have mythic, protective powers. They are typically made of stone, and stand in pairs where they have traditionally kept watch over Eastern imperial palaces, government offices, tombs, temples, and homes.
The fu dog is always in a pair, representing female yin and male yang.
These are the smaller-sized patches from our Eyelet collection, each with 4 metal eyelets in a silver tone - designed for threading onto shoes.
A larger pair of Fu Dogs from our Standard collection is also available separately.
Artist's note
The depiction of the Fu Dog is what originated out of descriptions of lions, from stories on the Silk Road carried from the West. It's how the Chinese imagined a lion to look, without having seen one!
